Een Shoot the Moon site laatst bijgewerkt op: 14 juni 2022 ©  2022 Blackleg miner is een Engels traditioneel mjnwerkerslied uit Northumberland, waarschijnlijk uit de late 19e eeuw. Een blackleg is een oude benaming voor een scab, een werkwillige mijnwerker tijdens een mijnstaking. Deze stakingbrekers waren diep gehaat in de kringen van mijnwerkersvakbonden. De bekendste versie is die van Steeleye Span (van hun eerste elpee uit 1970) die in de jaren zeventig heel populair werd in de meer militante folk-kringen. In de tachtiger jaren (Thatcher's mijnstakingen) werd het lied opnieuw populair. Nadat er echter een aantal stakingbrekers waren aangevallen en omgebracht, werd de tekst van dit lied (waar hetzelfde in gebeurt) wat controversiëler. Voor Steeleye Span is het nog steeds een vaste factor in het live- repertoire.
