In 1966 had hij een bescheiden hit (12 in de Top 40) met Crying time, een nummer van Buck Owens. Op de plaat wordt hij begeleid door de Raelettes en de Jack Halloran Singers. Hij zong het ook als duet met Barbra Streisand. Er is een Nederlandse versie (Jammer) door André Hazes (1989), met een gitaarsolo van Jan Akkerman.
